Dr Gwyn Humphries
Originally a biochemist/molecular biologist Gwyn has extensive experience of technology transfer and early stage technology companies. Gwyn was a co-founder in 1995 of Bradford Particle Design (BPD), a spin-out company from the University's School of Pharmacy. The company was profitable from day 1 and self-funded from licences and collaborations with major pharmaceutical companies. In January 2001 BPD was acquired by Nektar Therapeutics Inc. of California for $200M. Gwyn ran Nektar UK until 2003. He now chairs the Yorkshire university spin-out company Avacta plc, and is a non-executive director of Syntopix plc; both companies are listed on the AIM market.
